Print Friendly

Do you believe in the Rapture?  If you are here reading this post, than you are in one of two categories…either you are saved and have placed your faith in God and rejoice at the knowledge that you will soon be going to your home in heaven, or you’re not so sure of all the buzz about the Rapture being right around the corner.  Maybe you are someone who doesn’t believe in the Rapture and just have a bit of curiosity on what I intend to share here today.  If you are not saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, then I invite you to continue reading.  Believe me when I say, your life depends on it!

Let’s take a look at some scripture and what is said about the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:171 Thessalonians 4:17
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be cuaght up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  Then we will be with the Lord forever.

In 1 Corinthians 15:51-531 Corinthians 15:51-53
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret.  We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!  It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown.  For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever.  And we who are living will also be transformed.  For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

I don’t think anyone can argue that the events of this world are getting worse by the day.  If you don’t agree, just turn on the news or pick up a newspaper.  But everything that we see happening has already been prophesied in the Bible.

Matthew 24: 4-9Matthew 24: 4-9
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you.  For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah’.  They will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic.  Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.  Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.  But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

The Rapture is the evacuation of God’s believers from this earth, taking us to a place of safety during the Tribulation period.

Can you even imagine the chaos and fear that people left behind will be experiencing?  I can’t even fathom that thought!  And you don’t have to either.  Jesus died on the cross for us, all of us.  He endured so much pain and suffering so we wouldn’t have to and in doing so, made our salvation so very simple.  If you aren’t saved and you are reading this, you are receiving an invitation from God.  He wants you draw near and believe in Him.  It doesn’t matter what you have done in your life, your sins are washed clean the moment you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  Hand your life over to Him and allow Him to work through you.  I’m not trying to say that as soon as you accept Christ that your life becomes perfect and you never experience sorrow or pain again.  No where in the Bible does it say that living life with God is easy.  You still experience tribulation in your life, but with prayer you will have the strength to endure these trials.  Having faith in someone you can’t see is probably the most debated issue in the Christian life.  But as you develop your relationship with God, you will become stronger and you will be led by the Holy Spirit in the direction you are to go.  It’s a wonderful and peaceful feeling having the knowledge that you will have eternal life in heaven, and that you have the promise of protection from all the pain and suffering non believers will experience during the Tribulation period.

Revelation 3:10-11Revelation 3:10-11
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

“Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.  I am coming soon.  Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.

Jesus promises that He will remove us from the earth before His wrath is released, and it will occur in the blink of an eye.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:2-31 Thessalonians 5:2-3
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

WP-Bible plugin
Paul tells us that the return of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.  Everyone will think everything is fine, peaceful and secure, then suddenly disaster will fall on them.  There will be no escape for the unbelievers.

Read those words again…there will be no escape for the unbelievers!  That is powerful in itself.  Some of us believe without seeing.   But there are others that must see to believe.  Those are the ones who have heard about God and the Bible but have chosen not to believe.  They are the ones who have been warned about Jesus’ return and have fluffed it off, either in disbelief or they may just believe they will think about it later.  Either way, after the Rapture takes place, the ones left behind that become believers will have to endure much prosecution for their faith.

If you have made it to this point in the post, and you are not clear on the events that lie ahead, I invite you to open your Bible and ask God to give you the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of His Word.  Give yourself time to learn and absorb what He is teaching you.  Each time you read a Book in the Bible, God will reveal something new to you.  You just have to have faith!
