How Do You Measure Your Wealth?

How do you measure your wealth?  By what standards do you consider yourself rich?

rich in money?

rich in property?

rich in material items?

Society has led us to believe that we must live a certain way to be considered rich in today’s world.  When someone talks about their wealth, do they ever say “I’m rich in the Glory of God?” or “I’m rich in the Holy Spirit?”  Not usually.  Instead, we would hear something more along the lines of “I own a house on the lake” or “I drive a 2013 Cadillac”.

For many years, our family lived a life of luxury.  We never needed for anything, or so we thought.  In all the ‘riches’ we had, as many others, we were missing God in our life.  There never seemed to be time left for reading the Bible, worshiping, fellowship, or praising His Holy Name.

Have you ever heard the old saying: ‘You can’t take it with you?’

Most people will say that in jest, but there is more truth to that statement than people realize.

Matthew 6:19-21Matthew 6:19-21
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.  Store you treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.  Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Some spend so much time worrying about what money is needed for ‘this’ or ‘that’, when really what we should be concerned about is if we have our heart right with God.

wealth

To measure your wealth by standards of our time here on earth gives us a blind sense of security.  Jesus clearly tells us that if we don’t take the time to know Him here on earth, we won’t have eternal life in heaven.  How rich one truly is if they possess a strong foundation of faith and spiritual wealth!

wealth

If you are living a life of material riches, God is giving you the choice of which path in life you will live.  He invites you to  accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and invite Him into your heart.

I understand that everyone has bills to pay.  But are you living above your means?  Are you struggling day to day just to make it through the month?  We all face these challenges at one time or another.  Have you put Jesus in the forefront of your life?  Do you thank Him each day for giving you another day here on earth to serve Him?  Do you surrender your life to Him each day, and ask Him to do His bidding through you?  It may be difficult for one to call on Jesus when everything in their life is going well and they are not suffering financial strain.

Luke 18:24-25Luke 18:24-25
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

When Jesus saw this, he said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!  In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”

Ah Mary,I thank god everyday, for bringing me through another night safely and sober. I want for nothing, my life is filled with love, I have been blessed through out my life. Today I am sober, achieving sanity, and filled with the love of my God. I am happy in my heart.
