Do You Ever Feel That God Is Ignoring Your Prayers?

Print Friendly

Do you ever feel that God is ignoring your prayers?  How many times has someone told you that they don’t pray because they don’t believe God answers prayers?  I have been told that too many times to count.  My immediate response is “did God not answer your prayers?  or was it just not the answer you were looking for?”

I have found the ‘human’ part of us sometimes prays with pre-conceived notions of what the answer should be, even before we have finished.  Satan doesn’t make it easy for us to relinquish the ‘flesh’ and deal directly one on one with God on a spiritual level.

There is a lot of scripture that supports the power of prayer, but one of my favorites is

Phillipians 4:6-7  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Just recently, someone told me that they didn’t pray because they didn’t know how.  There is no set of rules for prayer.  People find the way to pray to God that is the most comfortable for themselves.  No one way is wrong!  If you are unsure of your praying technique, ask God for his guidance.  He will guide you if you just ask.

Romans 8:26Romans 8:26
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Prayer

If you want to pray, but are not sure exactly what you should say, pray by the scripture.  It is an excellent starting point!  Psalm is a beautiful Book of the Bible that will not only offer you scriptural prayer to guide you, but will bring peace to your heart.  There is a mighty power in prayer.

So very true Brenda! My prayers sometimes seem like ongoing conversations 🙂 But, I have so many new believers that ask questions regarding prayer and how to even begin to pray. It can be hard for new believers, questioning what and how they say it. Recently, I had someone tell me that didn’t pray because they didn’t know how. Slowly, but surely, each individual molds their prayer practices into their own personal format 🙂 Thanks for dropping by! I appreciate your input ♥♥♥

I love your reminder here, Mary, that we so often go to God in prayer with our own outcome in mind. He does listen, He does answer, but if we’re not attuned to Him, we won’t hear what He is telling us. And, as Brenda pointed out, pray can take on all kinds of forms depending upon the person. I do like your advice to pray through the Scriptures if you don’t know where to begin.
    Blessings to you!

Martha, I remember the scripture being such a great place to start in prayer. It always left me with such peace. But it is personal and how each person prays is between them and God. We all just need to remember that He answers in His time, but that doesn’t mean that He isn’t listening 🙂

My faith is different than yours, but my prayers are the same. I always pray with gratitude, asking for little besides guidance in my life. I pray for others when asked, then I am specific. I pray for the healing of many people in my life, mostly I ask that, Thy will be done, not mine.

You definitely hit the nail on the head there…’Thy will be done, not mine’. It’s not about us in the here and now, but Him in the then and there 🙂

Don't be shy! We would love to hear from you!
